We begin with a free 30 minute consultation with the student and their family, which provides an opportunity to gather and share information on the student, as well as more details on APPLiCAN services. From here, we schedule our first appointment to begin the journey together. Appointments can be conducted virtually or in-person.

As a student, one of the most important aspects of making the right college choice is being your true self:

As college counselors, we guide students through a journey of self-discovery to realize personal and college goals, making sure well-being and academic needs are met.

COLLEGE SEARCH
The best college will provide an education that meets an individual student’s needs and career goals, in a conducive environment. We explore options with students to determine their best fit:

Two-year community college, four-year liberal arts college, research university, engineering school, business school, music conservatory or art institute

College diversity defining a sense of community - the student body, faculty and staff, curriculum and programming, campus resources, organizations and clubs

Location and campus life
As your college counselors, we create an initial list of colleges based on individual needs, priorities and goals, giving students the tools to tackle research and fine-tune college choices to begin the application process.

We guide students step-by-step through the college admissions process and financial aid applications:

Providing organizational tools

Engaging in research: building college lists, planning college visits, registering for local college events

Introducing different types of applications and requirements for each

Providing guidance with the financial aid process and resources to conduct scholarship searches

Drafting a meaningful activities list

Brainstorming, editing and polishing personal statement and supplemental essays
